(If you want to skip story then go down) I bought my sennheiser hd-650 and I tried to convince my friend that his stock ipod earbods was not as good as he thought. He thought that a “quality mp3 player” like his ipod, would have some kind of hi-fi stock earbods. First, he did not mind about all the hi-fi stuff I talked about, but after a week he tried my hd-650 and he totally chanced his mind. Now he wants a pair of non-amplified headphones for his old ipod 1st g.

I am looking for a pair of un-amplified headphones for my friend. He is going to use it with his ipod Nano 1st g.

EDIT: THEY HAVE TO BE ALL AROUND EAR HEADPHONES

Is there a size limit he's looking for?

I'd recommend the RP-21, but those are hyooge.

The "around $100" amp-optional kings are Equation RP-21 for closed or Alessandro MS-1 for open. For people who prefer to buy new at least.

And fwiw ibuds are certainly above average. Most free buds are way worse.

Seeing as how you are in Europe, get some Philips! The SHP 2700, for example, at 32 ohms should sound fine straight from an Ipod. What's more, they only cost about 30 EUR. If you want to spend more, you can get the SHP 9000 for around 100 EUR.
