Am I crazy?! So my back story is that I don't get a great fit with my UM1s. The only way I get a decent fit is with the tubes of the Etymotic Foams + Shure E2 medium pieces. None of the foams work well enough on the left ear. I know that the UM56 will work with the UM1 and Shure models so if I wanted to upgrade later I could use them still. What are your thoughts? Also, how long should the UM56 last me?

UM56's probably aren't your only choice. There are various small parties out there doing custom molds and I heard that some audiologists do them. There's definately potenial to shop around.

I have the um56 for use with my um2 -- I love them. And westone is easy to deal with. Good luck

I admit to not hearing a great deal of difference between the comply and the triflange. Maybe the triflange has a bit more high end. I don't really think about the sound with the 56, just enjoy the music. It seems balanced and clear to me.
