Does anyone know if the upcoming shure E500 will be compataible with the westone's um-56 ear molds?

Hope so. Once it's out we'll get a set and see what we can make work on it. Oh .. yeah and I get yet another earpiece to play with

I can get my hands on one sooner (trade show, etc) I'll bring my 56's with me and see how they fit.

Sensaphonics makes custom molds for all of the other Shure lines. My guess is they will make one for the E500 as well, so you will be able to custom even if the UM56 doesn't fit it.

I called Shure today and the answer was no, the designs are different. I was told a little bit before wide shipping, they will send out field units so labs so they can work on them: he specifically mentioned the Sesaphonic lab in Chicago. That is a bummer for us UM-56 owners. p0wderh0und23: any way to work/modify um56 to make it fit an e500?

I'd have to see it and play with it. Until I do, I cannot give a 100% answer. I would be suprised if we do not have something out that will fit it pretty quick. Trick will be getting my hands on one before they go public.

Having had IEM's from both companies, so far I've found the Shure/Westone tips to be interchangeable. Based on past experience I'd guess this would continue to be so. We'll find out soon enough as May's not that far off, well, unless you're a housefly.

Once we get our hands on a set, we'll know better. I see no reason it will not fit though.

E500's nozzle is the same diameter as the rest of our line (minus the E2) and as such should be compatible with the UM56 since the UM56 is not specifically geared to any one model.
