I am an IEM user seeking advice on my first pair of high quality closed cans. I have posted before, but am a bit more experienced now:

I have been looking and listening to AKG 271, but was dissapointed about lacking bass (i am not a bass head, but I like full range). I by far preferred the similar priced AudioTechnica ATM-50, but when I checked review out on this model, a few pointed me to the Ultrasone HFI-700 instead, which gets (got?) rave reviews, and also its newer model the 780, gets very nice words.

Does anyone here know about the HFI700? If its similar to the 780 I would get it as its available and 30% cheaper than the 780...

Thanks! I live in Europe so unfortunatly we can't enjoy the same price levels as you.

The 780 is about 40% more expensive than the 700, and my point is if this price differnce is easyli covered by better performance. If not I would guess the 700 is a fine pair of headphones.

Pls. correct me if I am wrong

I read lots of nice things about the HFI700, but I read the ear cups are smaller than the HFI780, and the bass is not as big with the HFI700. These two things sway me toward the HFI780. However, everyone values $40 differently, as well as differences between the HFI700 and HFI780. And I doubt the HFI780 is universally preferred over the HFI700. So there's no telling if $40 would be worth the differences to you.

Edit: correction 40%, not $40. I can see how that price difference could sway many more toward the HFI700.

Thanks!

Actually you have made it very clear for me; I am not a bass head and I can do with the 40% saving (this is prob. not my last pair of HP)
