The phone is the ATH-W2002. Amp is the ANT Amber. The JB3 has a 100Gb drive. The PSU needs work.

I'll be upgrading mine in the av320 to 100GB shortly as well, which drive did you use out of curiosity?

I went for the fujitsu. It just happened to be in stock at the online shop I use... I didn't do too much research on this. It was only after I fitted it I began to worry about battery drain, etc. I don't think it'll make that much difference as it's a slow spinner. I've only gone 'portable' once with it so far, so I'll have to see how long the power actually lasts.

Hrm.

Gonna have to agree with Philodox. Shame the iPod doesn't have a digital out. I can't stand iRiver players, but I could live with Archos, depending on how large it was.

Here's my Ultimate (aka As Far as I Can Go Without Ditching the iPod) Portable Rig.

ALAC -> iPod 4G 40GB -> Sikdin black lineout -> Emmeline SR-71 -> Prophonic 2X-S

If the iPod had a digital out, stick an aos Flute between it and the SR-71, that'd REALLY be ultimate. Unfortunately though... Apple has not seen fit to add a digital output yet.

I have to say, the amber + JB kinda form what appears to be a homemade bomb. =)

i've been looking into a way to strap an orpheus and a power supply (i was thinking car battery and an inverter) to someone's back.... i'm sure that setup would kick plenty of ass

Who needs a SR-71 when you have a Flute? Its a great headphone amplifier as well. I will get a chance to hear the SR-71 finally at the Chicago meet so I may have more useful comments after that.

i just had a conversation with someone who could do the rio to a headroom coda/overture powered by a small car battery (!) with the sony SA5000 as a possible portable combo

well we didnt mention the SA5000 but i'd rather see that do the rig justice versus his other cans, the V6 (yeah i'm talking about you!)

How is the W2002 for portable use?

Isn't it too big

I'm still working out the kinks, something's preventing my iRiver from working with the Overture, but I can't think of any other way to improve on this rig (scroll to the last two images).

Maybe pick up a pair of UE-10's and see if I prefer them to the Sensa's.

Otherwise, I have to say the 20 minute cab ride to and from work is my favorite part of the day.

Best regards,

My setup (H140-->JMT mini-mini--->SR-71--->UE-5c's) needs lossless or a higher end source to really shine....but it's still the best portable combination I've heard. However, I only have one friend who is into portable as much as this crowd here.

Using mp3 on both setups, my portable rig now matches my Sony cd/dvd player ($180) and Yamaha Receiver ($350) combo I use for home theater. Of course my home rig is nothing special...but it's cool that a rig that fits in your hand can be that good

I also say mine. And its another set of UE's connected to an SR-71. Ipod, lossless files, earcandy mini, SR-71, UE-10's. Its really out of this world. And its not that big. It still truly is portable. I dont need a back pack to carry it.
