It's just for gaming on a PC, not for listening to music, the room is 3.6m by 2.5m (12 foot by 8 foot), but I'll be at a desk in the corner, sat about 80cm from the speakers. I'm concerned that sitting so close to the speakers any background hiss / whitenoise will be very noticeable.

I don't normally have the volume loud.

Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 £100

LEPY 2024A Plus Amp £24

AmazonBasics 16-Gauge Speaker Wire £10

3.5mm to 2 x RCA £3

Someone recommended the SMSL SA-50, but one of the reviews voted 'most helpful' mentions background hiss and volume imbalance at the low end of the scale. I'll probably be having the speakers almost always fairly quiet.

It's my first audiophile purchase, I've only had £10 PC speakers before, is this set up the cheapest non-rubbish option?
