I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF PURCHASING TWO SET OF HEADPHONES, ONE CLOSED BACK AND ONE OPEN BACK, OR JUST ONE DECENT PAIR, I WAS LOOKING AT THE DT880 PRO, WOULD THOSE BE A GOOD CHOICE OVER THE AD700 AND M50?

Also this question should be in the headphone section, but alas I digress.  If you plan on using a headphone amp then go for the DT880.  If not, then the AD700 and M50 will offer a better value for ya.

Okay, so what do you plan to plugging your headphones into and will you be using a headphone amp?  Will you be using them for gaming, music or both?

Well then, I'd say you have all the bases(amp wise) covered, so go ahead and get the DT880.  I think you'll be quite pleased with them.

Quality stereo receivers and preamps should offer performance that is close to that of headphones amps.  Though, a dedicated headphone amp is always recommended.
