What's the cheapest way to do this (barring modification of the amp) that is guaranteed not to hurt sound quality?

fewtch,

chances are there'll be source interactions that degrade sound when using a Y splitter with permanently connected sources in to a single amp. i'm by no means an expert in electronics, but if i'm fairly sure, one source can go to multiple amps, but not the other way around...

a passive switch box is probably the way to go (the only sources of degradations here are switch/connection/cables).

fewtch: Not a good idea to run two line-outs into one line-in via splitters. Buy or build yourself a switchbox.

A simple yet wonderful switchbox can be had for a few bucks.
Metal case, nice switch, good contacts.
