Hello

Personally film is my main hobby, and having moved to a new location I figured I want to get a good TV as soon as possible. So like I said it's mainly for films. I'll want it to be 1080p. Will probably get the xbox s for a blu ray player, so I'll be future-proof for when I want to make the jump to 4k. Right now though I just want a good 1080p tv that's under $1,000 for watching films?

Only for movies? oculus rift I suggest. Personal Cinema it´s awesome! If you have ice it would help to wait for a higher res version but who knows when they arrive. 
 
PSVR may be an alternative also less screendoor but a bit less fov and a bit blurrier I believe. sonys T-series seem to have comfort issues and don´t have the headtracking I believe which you want but would been fun to try
