I have had the Turtle Beach HPX for almost two months now. I bought it because I needed a good pair of headphones that would work for console gaming via a Astro MixAMP, and a pair for surround sound gaming and movies on the PC.

First off, HPX + MixAmp is AMAZING. The headphones really shine here to the extent that they almost pay for themselves with this setup.

However the HPX sucks on the PC, quite frankly. This is largely because of the terrible amplifier ( i think ) that makes it sound like I am getting really really bad static. I never had this issue with my stereo headphones on the PC, so I can only assume the static is caused by the amp. Also, the amp gives off a mild popping sound when audio goes from mute to having sound.

In short... I could use some advice. Should I just use the MixAMP for 3D movies... and ignore the 'real 3D' effects of the HPX? Should I return my HPX? Is there a better surround sound amp?
