i find it hard to explain to my non-audiophile friend.

we were comparing earphones, mine being the shure 530 and his; the sennheiser cx215.

we used an ipad with 320kbps songs as the source.

and although i noticed that the bass in the cx215 is not as sharp as the shure 530 and it tends to blur out the mids (a little), he did not notice anything.

with that said he did mention he had to turn up the volume for the cx215 and he could then notice more detail.

so how do i go about this? i think turning up the volume does make you focus on the mids or vocals but i don't think it helps in making the finer details more crisp.

RE272 brings out the exact amount of details on lower volumes as it does on higher volumes. Though listening at higher volume is not comfortable for longer time.

Not the same case with other IEMs.
