personally i prefer the current silver and black version, not that all silver looks bad though.

What's silver in that picture? I see the same color scheme as on my pair. The light gray color is the result of a bright spotlight. It's not photographed very well.

A little elephant told me he went to a Sennheiser trade event the other day and one of the reps said they probably would have another HD800 model with different cosmetics eventually, likely mostly black. There was also reportedly some nodding and winking about how an HD700 would certainly make sense given the price gap between the 650s and the 800s.

Depending on what would be sacrificed that could be great.

Picture definitely looks like a combination of desaturation (black and white) and lightning which makes it seem silver, but I'd say its the same color scheme. As to an all black model AND a HD700, HELLS YEAH!

I guess they could sacrifice the exotic plastic in favour of magnesium,then use plain old leather instead of exotic materials for the pads.
Should drop the price down to around $500 as these would be advertised as mid-fi,being made of lesser material.
