Hey I have on order some new pads for my DT-880's.  Along with the pads, the seller (wang wifei) supplies 2 thicknesses of "tuning foam" disks.  Has anyone used these?  What is their purpose?

Thanks

Probably just to tame the highs a bit for treble sensitive folks. I don't know if you're talking about foam discs that go inside the cups or the ones which sit in front of driver. I have seen and also tried the foam in front of driver and without, and there are subtle changes. The 880 doesn't seem as sharp in the highs as its v shaped brothers. IMO/YMMV

Guess they are kind of like the doggie treats Mr Speakers make. I guess it will allow you to tinker and kill time with foam and some EQ corrections.
