Would like to get some tube recommendations for the Singlepower Extreme w/ Senn HD-650. My source is a Rega Apollo. I do a have an ECC1 adapter. Currently using 2 x RCA 6AS7G with Westinghouse Reliatron 6SN7GT. I like these tubes with the Extreme but would like to try some other combinations.

Any suggestions appreciated,

The combination of the Apollo and the HD650 seems to need something like the RCA 5692.

Thanks Tbln for the link, good info. Regarding the RCA 5692 tubes, they don't seem to be on the Extreme compatible tube listing chart, anyone else tried these out?

I am using 5998s with a vintage Amperex Bugle Boy 12AU7 from the 1960s and I love the sound, big, warm and detailed.

I have had my Singlepower Extreme for months and played with a lot of different tube cominations. I tend to like the higher voltage and usually brighter sounding ECC type #1 gain tubes with my Senns; good sounding exceptions being the lower gain RCA 6CG7/ 6GU7 and Sylvania VT-231/ 6SN7GT/ 7N7.

I prefer the very good sounding, cool looking, but inexpensive 6AS7G's for the outputs.

Since you have the ECC type #1 adapter here is a list of my favorite ECC type #1 tubes using Senns with the 6AS7G's ....

GE 5965 grayplate
GE 6414 grayplate
Raytheon 6414 blackplate
GE 6829 grayplate
Amprex 7062

Some like the RCA 12AV7 and Philips SQ 7062.

I was pretty happy with the 6AS7G's, so I bought a new set as backup,
so this is good news.Having some suggestions for the ECC#1 adapter is
just what I was looking for.
