I'll admit I don't know enough about tubes to have any business thinking about buying a box of tubes but saw an add on local craigslist http://tricities.craigslist.org/ele/5421237897.html

From what  any of you all can see in the pictures, are any of these tubes that are typically used in amps?   Would it be worth getting them and sorting through based on what anybody can tell?

Even better, somebody else buy this and save me from heading down the tube rolling path.

As Oskari indicated - not much there.  I didn't see any, as a matter of fact - but I didn't look that hard.

You will soon find if you continue to look at these kind of multiple tube sales that they are most often full of tubes specific to color TV's.  Unfortunately, no one has a color TV that uses tubes anymore.  The typical service technician had tube cases that were loaded with these kinds of tubes.  That was the major service call back in the 60's and early 70's - making a house call to fix a color TV that was too big to move from the house.  So, the tube mfrs would make cases for the technicians to carry around and stock them with color TV tubes.  There may be a couple of good audio tubes in the mix, but not often many.

I knew the gang here would steer me right.  Thanks for the info and I'll just buy tubes here if and when I decide to go that route.
