I just got my hands on a NOS Telefunken 6AS7W tube and I really like it. Now, I do have Telefunken 6DJ8s but I had never seen nor heard of the larger 6AS7W tubes made by them. Anyone have any info about these tubes?

Can you post a picture? I have almost 100 6AS7 type tubes, but I have never bought a Telefunken. AFAIK, Telefunken never made a 6AS7, and your note that what you have says "Made in USA" supports this - the means they were re-branding from a US maker. The only Telefunken-branded 6AS7's I have ever seen were very clearly Russian made.
Does it look like other 6AS7's you have seen?
Again, if you can post a pic, I can almost certainly ID it.

Will do man. I was hoping you would chime in.
I figured it was most likely a rebrand.

Perfect. So that is a 6080, really, not a 6AS7, although the two tubes are basically the same. The 6AS7"G" is the coke-bottle/ST-shaped glass envelope, as oppoised to the straight-bottle of the 6080.
RCA, GE, Sylvania, and Raytheon all made 6080's in the USA. From the picture I cannot tell which that one is.
6080's are generally very inexpensive - they can be had NOS/NIB for $10. And I personally prefer the 6AS7G, but some folks like the 6080 a lot. My experience has been that the 6080 is usually a little brighter/more forward than the lusher 6AS7G, as a general rule.

Cool thanks. I do have a couple Western Electric 421A tubes and a Tung Sol 6AS7G. This tube has a bassier sound to me, but at the loss of some soundstage from what I can hear at this time. I picked this one up on Ebay for 24 bucks. Nice little addition to the collection I suppose. Thanks for the info man.

Indeed, just the fact that it is Telefunken branded makes it collectable
