for the little dot or darkvoice (or other tube headamps) with preamp function, does the overall tube sound transfer over aswell?

basicly while using the preamp on a tube headamp will I hear tube characteristics?

I've heard reports, on the Darkvoice 337 for example, that although you will hear tube characteristics at the headphone and preamp outputs, that one may sound a little "better" than the other.

As I recall, one Darkvoice owner reported better perceived bass response via the headphone vs. the preamp out, which may suggest differences in the quality of the two circuits (or reproduction was better with the headphones than with the amp/loudspeakers being driven by the preamp out).
