Hi,

This is the first time I have this kind of problem with one of my amps. My new tube amp is picking electrical noise from my computer when it is plugged in my Alien Dac. I tried on the battery and the noise is gone. Is there any reason why it happens? Anyone ever experienced that? I'm really looking for a solution cause I can't only rely on my battery when listening to music.

you could make (or buy) a separate 5v power supply for the DAC and tie it's ground to the ground connection on the usb.

so from computer:
usb data lines
usb gnd

From 5v supply:
+5v
gnd

that should sort it
