Hi guys,

I recently made the switch from IEMs to full sized cans, and started with a pair of HP-DX1000s.

I quite like how the DX1000s sound, but want to see the difference compared to open cans.

Genres I listen to:
Acoustic, Vocals mainly, but some pop and rock from time to time.

I've sort of narrowed it down to these, but can't quite make the final decision:

Audeze LCD-3
HD800
AKG K812

or these more wallet-friendly ones:

Beyer T90
HD700/600/650
AKG K701

Going to be driven from:

PC -> HRT microstreamer -> Asgard 2
Phone -> FiiO E18/iBasso D-Zero

Although I don't really have a budget limit, I'd rather not buy a whole new set of DAC+Amp etc, so I guess I'm looking for a pair that will do decently with my current gear.

Any input would be great, Thanks!

The HD 800 is the best can on your list,especially if you value accuracy/neutrality.  You should give this a good look:

Maybe look into stax territory, sounds amazing with most acoustic stuff and live recordings. Just a fairly basic system might do.

Yeah, hd800 as well.

If you're coming from DX1000's which I heard and instantly thought I preferred these over my D7000s...the HD650/Audeze house sound is for you.

Unless he wants to try something new.
The dx1000 does indeed sound very very good. I really liked them when hearing them.

Thanks for the replies guys, decided to go with a pair of HD800s. Got it in a bundle with a burson soloist too.

I might try the audeze and stax range later on too.

Congratulations, I think the hd800 will compliment your dx1k well.
