Maybe I've been slow on the uptake, but for those that have been waiting and wondering:  The 10vi cables appear to be back in stock at UE.  I just ordered a couple for myself via the online order system while they still have them at $20/each.  Other than this you have to order from China for $40-50 each.

UE just replaced my cable for free!

I had the regular TF10, but they gave me a TF10vi cable (even better!)

What is the TF10vi cable? What makes it different than the stock TF10 cable?

"vi" stands for "voice integrated." It has a small microphone and a play/pause/answer/end button. It's intended for use with smartphones (notably the iPhone) so that you don't have to unplug your headphones to make or receive a call.

There are also some subtle differences. The coating of the cable is a soft rubber rather than the hard plastic of the stock TF10 cable, which makes it more flexible and less microphonic. Also, the memory wire that loops over the ears is less rigid, which makes it easier to adjust without losing the seal.

They are replaceable and we americans still read everyone else's dates backwards. Sorry for the confusion.
