Well, there are the tourist traps: Shantao Temple, Snake Alley, etc. Of course, you'll want to see the Palace Museum. But try to check out the little shops north of Peitou near the Tamsui subway stop. Take the ferry across the river and walk along the Bali side and go to Fisherman's wharf. Shop at Nova near the main train stration. Have a blast. (Do you speak Mandarin?)

You might notice a slight difference between driving in Singapore and driving in downtown Taipei . . . (watch out for those scooters -- it is actually legal for them to swarm in front of all the cars while waiting on a red light.)

yes, i do speak mandarin, i'm chinese btw

maybe would like to go off the beaten path

btw anyplace where rock performances are held?
