going on a trip to taiwan

recommendations of (places to go / things to buy) are much welcome, plus also any impt advice for travellers

How long will you be there? Will you primarily be based in Taipei, or do you want to move around the country?

Well, there are the tourist traps: Shantao Temple, Snake Alley, etc. Of course, you'll want to see the Palace Museum. But try to check out the little shops north of Peitou near the Tamsui subway stop. Take the ferry across the river and walk along the Bali side and go to Fisherman's wharf. Shop at Nova near the main train stration. Have a blast. (Do you speak Mandarin?)

ditto to the Nova shop, i shopped there too.. very cheap stuff.

dont forget to visit Taipei 101, the world's tallest skyscraper.

Have fun man. I have been to taiwan 4 times in my life, and I haven't gone back in 11 years. Just go to taipei. Lots of fun stuff there.

You might notice a slight difference between driving in Singapore and driving in downtown Taipei . . . (watch out for those scooters -- it is actually legal for them to swarm in front of all the cars while waiting on a red light.)
