Hi all
A iPod touch will drive them rock and jazz mostly. Build and isolation a must. I have been looking at the Re400 and cx985 any thoughts on the two or any others that would work for this?

The gr07s might not be a good option if build quality is very important. The shure se 315 has a detachable cable and the rha ma 750 has a metal build with strong strain reliefs

So it looks like ma750,dn1000,re400 or maybe kef m200 but with 120 ohms will a iPod power them? The re400 at $100 are a good buy but I do like a little color and the cord noise may not be good on the road has anyone used them over land,sea and air?

Thanks for info I see that m200 are 12 ohms not 120 not sure if I saw it wrong or the page was off been looking at so many.

Yeah the m200 sound great through my iphone so I doubt an ipod would have too much trouble powering them.  Don't listen to too much rock nowadays but jazz sounds pretty sweet and detailed from the m200s.

The only problem i could imagine is damping factor (Difference between speaker and output impedence. Less dampening factor generally means the headphone will be "slower". When a signal is stopped, the time it takes for the driver to move back will increase. I don't really understand much of it but thats the conclusion I got according to other articles...)

Clarity may be improved with an amp with a lower output impedence but that doesnt mean they'll sound bad through an ipod

The only problem with the re400 is microphonics and the lack of sub bass according to the reviews (I don't know if you looked at head-fi's reviews already but here you go)
