I downloaded three 32-bit activation codes for the Windows 7 beta, when it was available. I have two running now, and it has been a very positive experience.

I'm getting a Macbook Pro tomorrow, and want to dual-boot it with a 64-bit version of Windows 7, but the download/activation code window has now closed.

If anyone out there has a 64-bit activation code a code image burned to DVD, I'll trade you for the same in the 32-bit version.

Would like to avoid using the torrents . . .

ive been using 64bit beta of it on my vmware (license expires soon though). overall, not bad. it feels very much like an updated vista. or for a better summary, leopard versus tiger: the way it should have been.

have not used too much but sadly my virtual machine will not connect to internet. what is wrong? the look however is such an exciting look. at first, i thought i was looking at a new macos with doc and strange finder menu placement.

seems faster than vista but that may just be that my vmware is 2.2 or something and i used vista with 1.3 or something. so far so good.

AFAIK there were only a handful of codes given out to everyone, they might even be interchangeable between 32 and 64bit versions.

Microsoft gave out many, many millions of activation codes and software for the Windows 7 beta, but the distribution closed a few weeks ago. (One can't even buy it now.)

Windows 7 will be released some time this fall.

I have been using it for several weeks, and it is a releasable product, as is. Well done!

64-bit and 32-bit are not interchangeable. I did not anticipate needing the 64-bit version, or I would have taken care of that when I could.

I might have to buy a Vista license for the dual boot on the Macbook Pro and drive on.

Here are all the public keys that Microsoft handed out for the Windows 7 beta AFAIK:

These are the keys for 64bit (there should be one more):
JYDV8-H8VXG-74RPT-6BJPB-X42V4
482XP-6J9WR-4JXT3-VBPP6-FQF4M
7XRCQ-RPY28-YY9P8-R6HD8-84GH3
RFFTV-J6K7W-MHBQJ-XYMMJ-Q8DCH

In the onslaught of everyone trying to get a key, they quickly switched to 2 sets (32 and 63 bit) of 5 keys for everyone to use.

As for the iso, I do have them lying around but no easy way of uploading...

Wow, thank you for the keys! I need to find out where I can download the 64-bit code now--they've apparently closed that out, too!

I'm more than halfway there with those keys. Again, thank you.

(Will be interesting to see what Microsoft charges beta users to keep their machines alive with the release occurs. I'm guessing $129; hoping for much less (like $77.77--how's that?).

They probably are going to make you buy a new version of windows 7 and install it...

I doubt they will let you upgrade from the beta version..

That's an important point--I haven't been able to get an authoritative answer on that.

If I am going to have to uninstall Windows 7 beta to install a separate, release version of Windows 7 in a couple of months, then I am tempted to install Vista 64-bit, because at least then I will have a solid OS until then. (I have been running the 32-bit version of Windows 7 beta on a little Acer notebook, and it has some sort of compatibility issue, as it crashes a couple of times a day. It was rock-solid with Vista.)
