ok. i have a pair of hd280 pros.
and im wondering... should i get new head phones and an amp? or a nice pair of book shelf speakers and integrated amp (i know this is head-fi so odds are most of you will say head phones)

if i get headphones and amp what should i get (while keeping things on the cheaper end) and should i get an amp with a dac in it ( i have a ton of Flac on my computer) or should i get a cheaper separate dac and amp
im hoping to keep everything under $1000
and if i get speakers... i plan on getting a low end pair of b & W's and idk what amp to get.

Or just get an integrated amp and use that both for your speakers and headphones.

x2
Get a nice new set of phones and an amp. For the money you could even get a nice starter DAC.

I'd get some speakers if you can!
Headphones just cannot represent the music as realistic as speakers (think of stereo imaging/soundstage, bass impact...).

Dunno, maybe I'm a bit oversensitive in that respect but I just don't like that music-in-your-head feeling headphones create (crossfeed helps a bit though).

nuforce udac > little dot 1+ w/ 408a tubes > grado sr-325is
$100 + $190~ + $300 = $600 about.

Then you got yourself a rockin gear. Literally. For rock music. Hahaha...
