I thought that the sony only did gapless if it was ripped in a special format, not mp3.

I have heard that they gap is very short though.

I might just buy a couple of player and then see which one I like best - More credit card debt YAY!!!

The Gap on the new sony flash player with mp3s is indeed very short, and there isn't any noticeable beep/seek sound. ATRAC is gapless by design- what you were referring to.
