I tried searching around a bit and wasn't able to find any direct comparisons or explanations, so I was curious about the differences between the total airhead and bithead, aside from price. The only thing I can notice is the addition of USB.

Also, as the title suggests, I'm looking to pair an amp (portable) with ultrasone pro 650. I'm most inclined to get the total bithead since it's discounted when purchased with headphones. That is, of course, if the total bithead is a good amp for them. Any confirmation for the bithead being good/sufficient for the pro 650 or other recommended portable amps in the $100-150 price range would be appreciated.

The bithead is a DAC/amp and the airhead is just an amp. That's why the bithead comes with USB so it can recieve a digital signal from your computer and work as both an amplifier and external soundcard.

The Total Bithead *is* the Total Airhead with the addition of an onboard USB DAC. The amplifier section in the two units is identical.
