MacWorld 2005 will be in San Francisco starting January 10th. If you want a large capacity iPod, maybe you should wait a few weeks.

Q3 2005 it says-- you may have more than a few weeks to wait if you want an 80GB iPod

It's as thick as their current 40/60GB drives, not bad..

I also find interesting that they'll have a new 40GB drive next year that's .5cm thick, as opposed to the current 40/60GB's .8cm thick drive. I'd love a slimmed-down 40GB iPod

I wonder how much an 80gb version would cost and would it cause a price drop for the other sizes.

Considering the target audience for Ipods, I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

Check out their current price on the drive!! Another example of good margins when you are first to market

. I know , I know, the price will drop once the product is lauched but still very interesting price.

Apple's had 3 years to work on a custom EQ. I don't think they have the intellectual/technical capacity to figure out how to add a custom EQ.

Or they don't bother with features that 99.9999% of their userbase DON'T use

It's more like 100% of the userbase, since you can't use something that doesn't exist.

Apple is getting ready to face a lot more competition in the portable market. I think 80 gigs is inevitable and that the increased competion will eventualy force prices down as well.

However, I'm not holding my breath for either one. Christmas sales will saturate the market for a while and I wouldn't expect anything new until second quarter.
