Mullard ECC32 military tubes of the 50s, Tung Sol VT231, RCA VT-231, and Sylvania VT-231 (or W) - are all great.

Some do better for some people than the others do - depends on the amp, and your preferences.

I am not so enthusiastic about RCA except for the VT-231 verson.

KenRad VT231 is very close but after listening I prefer the Hytron 6SN7GT (1950) which cost about the same IIRC and offered better detail for my setup.
