I would nominate the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 as well. It's great value for money. You can't use it with headphones directly however, since it has nice, gold plated rca inputs and outputs which I like better than jacks.
The driver/control panel is really good too, ASIO support is good, it sounds good of itself and it is easy to work with with programs such as Audacity.
It's just the perfect soundcard for me.

I've been very happy with my EMU 0404. It sounds nice outputting to my speakers, gives clean digital out to my DAC/amp headphone setup. The patchmix dsp is easy to use, works fine with all the games I play, and it was cheap.

cons: cant run phones directly out of it, but i have no need for that anyway, i dont like the breakout cables, sometimes the drivers can be a tad fussy

other than that i love it, much better all around than the audigy zs platinum i used to have. cheaper too

I'm also looking for a new soundcard for listening ONLY, it will be connected to a Cambridge Azur 640A V2. Any suggestions, I just want as good SQ as possible.

Sorry if I'm hijacking your thread.

onkyo SE200 might also be a good choice, the problem is that at the price you say, a usb dac might be the best solution, or if you want to solder a bit, a X-fi.

POST 100!!!!!!
