I disagree... I think turning your computer on and off multiple times a day will significantly shorten the life of your hard drives. I've pretty much always left my computer on 24/7 and haven't ever had a hard drive failure because of it. Also, the MTBF rating of most quality hard drives is 100,000+ hours. You DO know that's 11 years of 24/7 operation, right? When's the last time you kept a system, or a hard drive, for 11 years?

I do agree about the heater part, though. My room is noticeably the warmest room in the house because of the electronics in it.
