I've read a bit from some of you folks about how great the PAL is... I was wondering whether it would, besides providing a great source, also be a good "amp" (or at least a better one than a normal portable. If one were to put it between the line out of a PCDP and the headphones, that would probably be a better driver for the 'phones than the PCDP itself, right?

I'd like to know what kind of quality this PAL really has... for anyone who has it, how is it with headphones (easily-driven ones, such as HD 497)?
