Tips for the Altec Lansing iM716?

Jan 8, 2010 at 9:25 AM Post #16 of 23
Just got a chance to try shure olive on my im616 - it's a very tight fit on the stem, almost afraid of breaking the stem. The hybrids fit on the phone's stems much easier, but not loose at all.
Olives give a better isolation than sony hybrids, but I can conveniently and easily insert the phone deeper into ear canal when using sony hybrids.
Also, I can definitely hear the olives expanding for a few seconds after insertion when listening to songs at low volume, something I didn't quite notice with Comply foams.

Yep. The Shure Olives are very tight.

They actually cracked the tip of the stem when I twisted them off. It's a small hairline crack that's about 3mm long on the thick part of the stem.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix that?

My 2c... try the klipsch gels. You can buy them separately now, and they work and fit great. I have some on the im616.

Looks great!

Which isolates more and which is more comfortable? The biflange or the single flange?

The only bi flanges I have (which came with my S4i) are the super small size. Too small for me, so I can only really comment on the single flange. I actually bought a whole set of the medium which I use on a variety of phones, besides my Klipsh. They work for shures and like I mentioned above the im616. Extremely comfortable, good sound and isolate nicely- but really what sold me was the comfort. Even the Shure Olives I find annoying after a short time. I think I am fairly sensitive to having things in my ear though.

Cool. I'll probably snag some.
How's the isolation compared to the stock triflanges, the stock foams, and the Shure Olives?

Thanks again,
Leon

Try these:

Comply Foam Tx-100 ear tips

These will fit the Altec Lansing iM716, offer excellent comfort and have built in ear wax guards.
