alrighty, it has been some time since i've decided to upgrade and have been trying to get the Rega Planet 2000, but people don't seem to reply on audiogon to my emails, and i surely wont' win the auction on EBAY, considering i'll be at school when the auction(anyone want to help me win by bidding on it?) actually ends
i emailed someone on audiogon about their Sony 555es player and being able to offer 600$ for it, which i know is a good price, and they said yes. and seeing as either the Sony ES line or the Rega 2000 are my choices, i'm getting confused in the face of making a very serious decisoin seeing as how this is the most money i've spent on a cd player? i love the sony sound, but something tells me that i'll like the Rega sound even better because of its warm analog-like sound...and if it happens to be too dark sounding, i can always use my two tone controls on my arcam pre amp to EQ it just a wee bit. i think i'm going to wait until i find the Rega 2000, but the Sony 555es is such a great deal, and i know how good a player it is. SACD is not a concern, so i'm not worrying about that at all. also, on some other auction sites, i've found various, or many, Sony DVP S9000es models up for sale. i guess they were made in 2001? i also would like to stick to a player model that wasn't manufactured more than two years ago...and one that was heavily used for that matter. does anyone have any input on the DVP S9000es models? the wierd thing is, there are a lot up for sale for around 600$. they are a very nice looking ES high quality players, and i know they will compare to the Rega, but, i'm just confused???
i just would like to know what many of you would do in this situation?? i take all your opinions in such high regrard and totally respect the knowledge that exists on this website...and that is why i'm coming to you gus. that is all i'm looking for...input, opinions, and suggestions
i think the best bet would be to go for the Rega, and just sell it if it doesn't turn out to be what i wanted it to be. i think i'll like it though considering that the Rega's specific sound characteristics are my favorite types, and i just love a warm, yet slightly detailed sound. and i also believe the Rega will do so well in my case because i have my solid states to help brighten it up just perfectly and balance it out to that perfect type of sound that i've been searching for
what do ya'll think?
thanx to anyone for your help...it is greatly appreciated. i really have no idea of what to expect. like the first time i dove into headphones, head first, i am doing the same now with a cd player upgrade
