i picked up a pair of second hand k501's, while i think they are great the band is very loose and if i move my head they shift positions which is a slight annoyance.

the clamping force on my ears feels about right, its not too much looser then my k271's but they still manage to feel like they are going to fall off my head.

if anyone has a tightening trick or a suggestion for better head placement it would be appreciated.

I suppose the elastics, which holds the headband, are too loose. Replace them. The elastics are wearing out after several years.
I had the same problem with the K-400, but with the new elastics, they are fine.
