When I am playing music with Exlusive-mode on it Tidal it seems to lock the sound. When playing a song in Tidal and when I open the browser and start a youtube-music-video then it will bug out. I hear no sound on youtube. Mostly the video is even stuck (not playing). When I close Tidal, I could use chrome youtube normal again. Also I could play music by youtube and tidal at the same time without issue when I disable Exclusive-mode again.
Is there a way to solve this?

You can select another sound output as default other than your DAC. Then directsound will be used on that default sound and you just mute that other device so it doesn't bleed over to your Tidal WASAPI exclusive.

If that somehow doesn't work, just use ASIO instead of WASAPI exclusive. All your program issues will be gone.

Isn't this the functionality you want? It seems you've already solved the problem.

Exclusive mode is specifically meant to prevent other applications from using the sound device. It's working as intended. If you don't want that, don't use it.

Does Tidal support ASIO? Guess I need to buy Jriver?
So your saying that if I set my realtek-speaker as default device. And then set in Tidal the output device to Schiit DAC (+exclusive enabled). Then chrome and tidal will work on same time?

Yep

Does that work. Setting default driver realtek, output device to DAC in Tidal. While headphone plugged in the amplifier?
Wouldn't the Wasapi of Tidal block all other sound-sources?

Nope. It only blocks other sounds on the same DAC

this is exactly what exclusive mode is supposed to do -- it's working exactly as designed.  it's not a function of tidal, jriver, youtube, or any other audio player.

Not handy when playing games or doing other stuff that requires sound. ASIO works the same I guess?

Nope. When you're playing sounds using ASIO, all other sounds are muted but they don't stop working unlike WASAPI exclusive.

Exactly that's why I am not a big fan of WASAPI. All other sounds mute is fine. But with WASAPI is results in applications crashing etc. When I activate WASAPI exclusive mode in TIDAL and open a video on youtube (chrome), it kinda crashes the whole browser, eventually even crashes Tidal. Well the music played through that will be either scrambled(unhearable) or it is even silent (no sound at all). Meaning that I have to close and open the applications again.

It seems that I got ASIO working in Foobar together with a plugin + ASIObridge. Yet I want a solution with a integration Tidal. So far Jriver, Jplay and HQplayer has TIDAL-support and all support ASIO. HQplayer seems to deliver the best soundquality (is also the most expensive one), it requires Roon (for Tidal) which is ****loads of money (110 euro a year or like 400 euro lifetime). So that would be like 550 euro's on software. Not that price really holds me from buying it, but I have to be certain that the software works. But it is unclear how activate ASIO for my Schiit Bifrost DAC in Jriver/JPay and HQplayer. Hopefully Schiit does answer on my guide request as well. Schiit has a Jriver guide and they talk about activating DSD DoP (this is a other kind of ASIO? ) How does that one perform in combination with Direct-Sound?

On the Driver-website of Schiit in the notes (2) they have a alternative driver named : Schiit_AUDIO v1.0.1. But I can't find any information about that driver.
No date when it has been released. Not even a screenshot of the interface-layout. Also I am uncertain if the interface allow me to switch between the modes (ASIO/Direct Sound or WASAPI) or if the Schiit_AUDIO driver only has a ASIO-mode. Also I have to uninstall the current driver of C-MEDIA to instal lthat one. So it ain't just a additional package.

Why is this stuff so complicated? :D

It is weird though. I  enabled in Tidal the exclusive mode again. Did a application restart afterwards. Then tried chrome and firefox (youtube) and they both play the video (including sound). What. Shouldn't it mute it? :D . It is supposed to mute the directsound right? Instead I could hear now the tidal music (in exclusive mode) and the sound from a youtube-video at the same time. What is this kind of sorcery :D

I contacted Tidal and they forwarded it to the development-department.

Just install VB-Audio's Voicemeeter Banana and set it become the default playback device for all audio (system 'Playback devices' dialog). In Banana select the device driver API you want to use (ASIO/WDM/WASAPI). If needed, set your playback software to use preferred device for audio playback (not directly Voicemeeter devices).
