I was expecting the 2003 Ghost in the Machines CD to be an uber-compressed mess like most other remasters, but look at the first minute of "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" in Audacity:

The top track is a rip from the old vinyl (SP-3730), and the bottom is the CD. The CD is slightly brighter, but that's about it. The CD is no more compressed than the vinyl!

So thank you, mastering engineers, for not screwing these up!
