I am pretty set on deciding either the HD595 or ATH-A900.

Do they need to be amped?

I have a Turtle Beach Catalina sound card. Would that help? :/

They don't need to be amped at all. If you are looking for SQ, and nonbulky, I suggest you go for the 595's. The A900's are HUGE. It's like having pillows stuck to your head although very comfortable. However, I enjoyed the 595 sound much more than A900's. The 595's will also pair VERY well with you SMIV whenever it gets to you lol. I bought one 3 months AFTER you. Wonder when I'm gonna get it...

Haha you ordered your SMIV on my brothers birthday

. Are the HD595's warmer than the A900s? I heard the A900's are really bright just like the SR-225's.

Hmm that sounds good. I thought the Grado's didn't have much warmth. They are more airy. I guess closing the door is just as good as isolation

Yes, I'd say the A900s are brighter than the 595s, but not hugely. Really you couldn't go wrong.

Go fof the HD650s if they're openness is not a problem.

The HD650's are too expensive for me

In terms for movies, gaming and sound quality, which is better the HD595 or the A900?

Too bad I can't make a poll.

Doh I tried to make one but it worked... on the wrong thread..

So vote here!

Go get the HD595, they're great. They're a nice mix between the 225 and 580, and certainly nice for movies, games and general computer duties. I had the 900, but I found they were just a little too absurdly huge, plus the SQ wasn't really impressive for music. The 595 are a great all-rounder.

Alright the HD595's sound good

I just wish my amplifier were here. It's been exactly 4 months since I ordered it.

I have both the sr225 and pk2. I say buy the pk2, I don't think you will notice a big difference in sq.

I have 225s, RP21s and HD595s- by far the 225s are the best. I had the cable shortened by moon audio with a right angle 3.5mm term and they are great on the computer or even on the go. I also inverted some yellow Senn pads for the ultra dork effect but they really are awesome and much more comfortable.

If you find them uncomfortable, you might want to switch pads on them. Get rid fo the bowls and get some comfies/flats.

If you insist on selling, sell them and use the money on a pair of ATH900 or Yuin PK1. The PK1s are small and comfortable, but look really cheap. The ATH900 look and sound fantastic, but unfortunately are very big. They are comfortable though, just big and bulky.
