I'm new here and didn't see a general discussion section so this is an introduction of sorts.

Been enjoying audio for quite a while and building systems as time/budget allow. Got interested in HP and bought some AKG K701s and K271 Studios as well as Koss Porta Pros. Found this site. Got intrigued by the Glow Amp One even though I came here to research portable ams. Bought one and it has really brought the AKGs to life.

Read Skylabs great review on portable amps because that was how this mess started. I had looked at RSA, Headphone, and Headphonia. I think I've decided on a 2Move amplifier. I'm on page 132 and actually plan to read the rest of the thread.

I then read how some described the K701 as being thin or harsh in the treble. So I ordered a pair of Sennheiser HD 600. Listened to them last night and find they lack some detail compared to the AKGs through the Amp One. I think they will go up for sale (I know not broken in etc-neither are my AKG).

So I joined to say thanks to all of you for your opinions that have caused me to spend more money in the last three weeks than I usually spend on toys in months.

...and you're only been here one day!
Then you certainly have to prepare your wallet for some more erious damage.

even though i prefer the k701 over the hd600 as well, i think you should burn them both in for a few hundred hours and decide then.

Haha I think it's doable when you've caught the bug.

That's certainly doable.
I've put down much more than 162 pages in one day...

But its highly possible he have been lurking around a while before I jumped in and registered.

Welcome!

AKG vs. Senn...hmmm...which do you like more, a crisp Chianti, or a smooth merlot? Puffed Cheetos, or crunchy? A Cuban or Honduran cigar?

In any event, they both require a ton of burn in, so hold off judgement on either until they are matured and you can get some critical evaluation in on both. You'll need to decide which works best with your system (synergy), and which sound signature you prefer...AKG = bright and detailed, Senn = warmer and more neutral.

Ugh welcome. I feel your pain.

Right now its only been less than 4 months I have been here and so far: I have D5000, HD650, ALO Hfi 780, Livewires, a Zero DAC, a Meier Corda HA-1 and I plan on buying a portable in the next week or so.

The 650, 780, and livewires were all purchases this week. I wonder what next week will be like....

As for 162 pages, I cant sit still I run back and forth between the computer and PS3

Get ready, the journey has just begun. Don't open the portable audio section!

Welcome to Head-Fi!

This site has gotten me thinking about analog and a multi-channel AUDIO system. That's the sound of my wallet hemorrhaging.

Since joining, this site has cost somewhere north of $7000.00

That's only completed projects

If you count spare tubes and projects not yet finished it's closer to $9000.00

Yea, DC Poor and Monkey are right. I was thinking about the wallet rebounding a bit from the Glow purchase and prepare for the the 2Move portable amplifier.

The Senn. seemed a little veiled/muffled and more recessed on the highs. Listening to the AKG I found more detail in some acoustic rock and still not too forward with the amp I have.

I know which is best isn't a question that can be answered-kinda fun question though.
