I am not sure if this is the place to to post if I am having problems with my headphones, but I do know everyone here know a heck of a lot about headphones. Recently, one of my earbuds suddenly started sounding worse and worse, and at first I could barely notice it, but now it sounds like it is playing a song with a double digit bitrate. I can head my other earbud is losing quality too, but it is not nearly as bad (yet). What could possibly have caused this, and is there any way to fix it?

Since you didn't specify which headphones they are, I'm gonna assume that it's a stock Apple bud. And I've busted many of those and they sounded like what you were describing up there.
Just get new headphones.

Yea any time you notice on ear starts distorting sound at higher volumes then the other ear, you've got a blown driver.

Some headphones I that came with my computer. They sounded great, until a few weeks ago. I loaned them to one of my friends who usually listens to metal and stuff, idk if maybe he had it too loud and blew them or something, but it seems strange they'd be slowly degrading.

This is why I don't lend my good stuff to my brother.. or friends who I know listen to their music cranked. They can go deaf on their own dime.
