I spent some time at www.headphones.com yesterday looking at the frequency response charts of some headphones (here).
looked at several charts (HD650, HD595, Ultimate Ears Super Fi...), and it struck me that the response of the open headphones almost always extended over a broader range of frequencies than that of the IEMs (or ECHs, whatever^^). What I am wondering is if the IEMs shouldn't be able to reproduce heights better than closed (bigger) headphones, since they have smaller membranes that can thus vibrate faster.
