There's a monthly Global Ear feature that surveys all sorts of music culture from around the planet. Their Jazz and World coverage includes free, avant, improv, traditional, and experimental sounds. Sample artists: Derek Bailey, Tagaq, Ibrahim Ferrer, Anthony Braxton, Alice Coltrane, Sun Ra. Sample labels: ECM, Wergo, Nonesuch, Cuneiform, Hatology. Wide-ranging stuff.
