During my rabbit hole journey of finding out anything everything I could about the iPod 5th Gen video Wolfson DAC, and how to get the best quality sound from it, I went from the stacking with FiiO Andes, and the Alpen, numerous portable amps like that using the rare FiiO L9 cable, and recently stumbled upon this decade old device called the V-Moda Vamp Versa, which provided true conversion of the digital signal of the iPod and have run through the AK DAC of the Vamp via lightning to USB Type A. I had read this was impossible, but apparently there are a handful of mainly Japanese devices that accomplish this very task. The Sony PH1 as well.
Does anyone have this device and still use it today? What modern day versions of this device would blow it out of the water, or is this still a worth while things to own in 2022?
