Hi,

Going to buy the AH D-2000 soon and was thinking of combining it with the STX. I found out that it doesn't support 5.1 however and my computer speakers are 5.1 (Logitech Z5550). Supposedly there is a digital adapter included with the card that will let me use the Z5500s, though without benefitting from the card which isn't ideal. Reckon the built in DAC in the Z5500's will be worse than the on board sound cards? If it gets worse it's a definite no-no.

Anyhow, wondering about a sound card that can power the AH D-2000 well and that can support 5.1 speakers as well, and as asked above, if my Z5500s quality will be reduced with the digital adapter thingie. From what I've gathered the D2000 will be better than the Z5500 sound quality wise, so if the speaker sound doesn't get noticably worse it's maybe worth it anyway to get the STx.

Edit: Think I might have solved it. Found about about http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003UNWVXS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE which solves everything.

That extension card is listed for use with the Essence ST (PCI), you have an Essence STX (PCI-Express).
I'm willing to guess the Z5500 will sound fine hooked up with a digital cable from the STX.
