The Soundstage Head Club

Is the D600 soundstage on par with the older Denons (D2k, D5k, D7k)?

I only owned the D5000 for a brief period of time but I'd say they are very close which is impressive considering the D600 is a completely closed headphone whereas the D5k was partially open. I think the D600 has excellent instrument separation and imaging which gives the soundstage a nice, even depth. I wouldn't say they are the most detailed or transparent headphones but I've only burned them in for about 24 hours at this point. I know of lots of people who rave about the D600s soundstage and imaging.

Chico, you may want to add the K612 Pro to this list.

Also, I've come across another new IEM that now has the best soundtage I've heard from one... the Sony XBA-H3.

Why no LCD-3 in the list?

I didn't think the LCD-3 was known for its soundstage compared to the other flagship dynamics and stats...?

We really need to add a new category to the soundstage club. Software!
I can't listen to headphones anymore without DSP that gives you a larger, more layered and holographic soundstage. It have transformed my entire headphones experience with the HD800 particularly.
TB Isone don't work well with all headphones but it's a match made in heaven with the HD800 and also work really well with HD598 and a few other.
When I'm in the mood I also add some 'environment' and 'surround field' effect in J rivers own DSP studio.

It's really worth the hassle getting J river and installing and calibrating Isone. Music through headphones goes to a new level of realistic speaker like soundstage.

Maybe start a category for soundstage in music as well. I like to experience the soundspace of these songs.

hey guys, i'm kinda new here. I want to ask a question.
lets say a DT770 has a 10/10 soundstage.
then how much soundstage there is on an HD 380 pro?
i'm considering to buy the HD 380 pro but kinda left lost on the soundstage. thanks.

also, an optional question: i have an ATH-M50, their soundstage are horrendous (for me), how much would you guys rate the soundstage from scale 0-10?

Probably 2-3/10 for the M50
Can't say for the DT770 vs the HD380 pro

Chicolom,  why no love for the MDR-7550?

I don't use IEMs, so I don't even know about them!

Well, the MDR-7550 is the same model as the EX800, which is the next model down from the flagship EX1000.   If the EX600 and EX1000 are listed on your firs post, then the MDR-7550\EX800 should  also be there.   Not that it really matters since this and older model...but just for the sake of accuracy.   You can still find the MDR7550 new, so maybe it does matter a little.
