They changed the branding from HE-1060 to HE-1. Should update the thread title accordingly.

Who can keep up with all the codes & numbers?
Just use a name and a sequential indicator and be done ... how about "Orpheus 2" ?

Why would anyone want to be in the band while he can be in an acoustically superior spot?

Yeah the soundstage was wide but not much depth IMO.

I was much more interested in the passage leading up to that line.

“The music started and it seemed I was suddenly sitting directly in front of the guitar. I could hear the strings vibrating to silence after each pluck, could pick up the sounds of finger movements up and down the board. It was unlike any other audio experience I’ve ever had; then it got better. As more instruments joined in, I drifted along from one to the other as each rose in prominence relative to the others, or in concert with them. I could isolate each one in my head at will and follow it as long as I liked, or I could let myself be swept along by the whole band.”

How close or far is all that a headphone can do.
As for staging side width and a slight depth is all you get
For those who post more I have never heard this.
Lastly stat headphones never have done a good job at staging either.
The hd800 is best I ever head on an over the head
Now quad floats and akg both have real staging but even they do not do it all.
The only type of headphone that can do real special que type experiences are made for this and delay certain sounds t fool us and we'll as having multiple dices to do this.
I cannot say how the new Orpheus sounds as yet. But the whole staging thing like it's all around us like speakers do is just not real to me.

Yes the sound is very detailed, clear and effortless and the musicians are indeed playing very close to you.

If the recoding is mixed up close or will be this is not just the headphones
The speed , cLarity , and harmmonics with over tones and reverb all are Finly detailed with stats
Also clean tight bass is shall mark. What I want answered is the weight of the music. This is where stats loose to planer type headphones.

The head device closest to speaker soundstaging is the AKG K1000, fully swivveled out. I compared this directly against the HD800; the difference was significant. HD800 is the most spatial sounding earpad headphone that I have used but sounds spatially artificial against the K1000. Earpads enclose a headphone's sound, preventing perception of real depth and stereo illusion. Even with binaural recordings, K1000 still beats the HD8000 in spatial projection.

I completely agree with your claims. So where does that leave a flat image like stats do ? The quad float is on the same premis as the akg1000. But they are stats so ven faster with more details .
I have owned headphones all of my life from kid and many speakers. I presently own a few flagships and few sets of speakers. Other than the three discussed nothing does any kind of real staging . Now I am glad you agree with some of my concepts . There will not be many at this party lol

Binaural perception is simply not possible with a conventional headphone design unless the recording has been produced binaurally. The earpads and listening enclosures characterise the sound (subtly or significantly) as well, regardless of recording type or driver technology. Electrostatics are not a guarantee that all aspects of the sound will be improved. Depends how well designed, assembled and calibrated it is too. Sonic resolution can be limited by an uneven frequency response or by lack of sound radiating area and ear coverage, I think. There are many things to be considered, especially phase response. If the phase response isn't true, there's a good chance the music will sound dull and unengaging, regardless of how much power is delivered to the drivetrain assembly and regardless of how quickly it is capable of moving.
