There was some talk on the 6J5 thread of old wartime Philips tubes. Here's a couple of 4654. I've only ever seen this particular shape of 4654 with these tubes and also with some RSD (also included).

And here's some wartime Philips 4654 with the more common shape. On these tube it states: "Kriegsmarine BAL 1641" and "Gepruft". "Kriegsmarine" is "submarine/uboat". "BAL 1641" is German military. "Gepruft" is "checked" in English.

Those middle tubes probably are pretty popular with the NSBM audiophiles out there…

I think they have a weird curiosity factor, thinking who may have handled those tubes for the regime. The Wehrmacht = Armed forces.
I’m not even sure if German citizens would be able to own these legally today with the markings.
I have some old German Reichsmark coins from that era with the same Eagle markings.

That black outfit with the red skirt... beautiful, elegant, stylish.
Where do you use them? Does it fit the Lampi Atlantic (with an adapter)?

@mordy has been very kind to correct me on this. Apparently "Kreigsmarine" is "Navy" (Kreig = war). You learn something new every day on here...

Eek. Just of historical interest to me. The Dead Kennedy's sum up my thoughts pretty well with their song "Nazi punks screw off".

Yep can use them in the Lampi Atlantic TRP DAC and 1101 Red Dwarf headphone amp with 4654 to EL34 adapters. Great tubes. There is also the 4654 with the cylindrical shape glass and metal base - just like the famous metal base EL34. The tubes are closely related.

Wasn't intending to imply anything, just being my usual smart-ass.
BTW… DK rock. Almost wish they'd do a reunion - Pistols style (this time we are in it for the money:laughing:)

I’ve seen them a couple of times - but only with the new singer and not Jello. Still great shows tho. The singer they have now actually sounds a bit like Jello which helps. Never seen the Pistols play, although a few of my friends saw them the last time they played in London. I’ve seen The Damned countless times! One of my favourite bands.

Back to 6L6. Neotron 6L6G with foil getter. These are definitely some of my favourite 6L6. Clear and detailed with a bit of oomph.

With inverted cup getter L63 (I think Langrex still has some of these with GEC sticker) and inverted tray getter ECC33. Old tubes. New amp.

I know it doesn’t matter much, but I prefer the look of this amp with the slender cylindrical tubes. The larger ST type tubes can look a little cramped.

Earliest version 1940’s GEC VT75/KT66. You can also find these with grey glass and rare black glass. I find these to be a little airier than the later better known versions.
