Going back to 37 and 76 tubes, I have quite a few but the real gems are the 2.5V heater ones - the 56 and the 27 mesh. I guess these aren't used because the heater supplies are 6.3V. But you're missing the best of the bunch. You really need 2.5V heaters and beefy ones too - each 27 takes 1.75A.

All of you were right about the Tung-Sol VT-94D. I was on vacation the last few weeks and these were waiting for me when I returned. Just popped them in and wow, they're fabulous right from the get go. They were on ebay for a while, not sure why they didn't get scooped up but I was able to get them for a great price. Easily worth the money!

It’s hard to tell from the pictures, are those round plates? If so they’re bound to be Sylvania, another quality tube. I have some Tung Sol JAN 12j5gt that I haven’t used in a long time but I do remember liking them quite a bit. I should try them again soon.

Looks the same as mine. Good find, they seem to be rare as hens teeth!

They're impressing me. Indeed, I feel lucky to have scored them. Great preamp tubes. Can't find anything I don't like about them.

How do you all think 6C5 Ken-Rads sound compared to the VT-231? I got a really nice KR VT-231 a while ago that sounds absolutely great. I got curious and bought some very very cheap 6C5's recently (it's laughable how expensive some 6SN7's are) but can't try them yet, waiting for the adapter. Curious how they compare!
