Brimar 6C5G (Mesh shield around the plate structure is reminiscent of the famed Russian 6S5S, but after first listen the Brimars are head and shoulders above the 6S5S)

To prevent myself from buying more tubes I put a $8 per tube limit, including shipping. Of course there are exceptions...
But I do manage to find tubes for under $8 incl shipping...

Well, guess I will share a newly acquired pair of Type 37s by way of gibosi, which I am giving them a first listen now - Philco mesh plate globe 37s - they sound as good as they look!

Running these very old single triodes with active plate loads (gyrators in this case) is a match made in heaven imho. The organic and dynamic nature of these triodes is highlighted even more from what I hear, except that it is a much more controlled reproduction of sound, with nothing sloppy or muddy, simply exceptional!
Tough to find in pairs these days. I found all mine by buying in singles and matching up. Rare, but cheap. Which is rare in the tube world :)

Yes they are. RCA (branded Cossor) 6C5. The boxes are a work of art themselves

The only exception I make for choosing 4 black metal tubes with 0 glow is Siemens C3G.

Even if those sounded fantastic, I couldn’t have 4 RCA / Cossor in my Envy……. Sorry @shwnwllms, IMO they are U G L Y!!!!!!

At least you didn’t show me something I’d have to resist!!!!!

I don’t disagree. Always been curious about metal tubes, but could never bring myself to buy any. Fortunately I ended up with these as a bonus pair from a recent buy.

They are interesting (typical RCA house sound with a fat bottom, not very extended up top)

I’m not touting these as the next “must buy, giant killer, one driver to rule them all, etc etc” so don’t go reaching for your wallets fellas.

But an interesting listen nonetheless. They are more of a curiosity but I’m glad I have a pair in my collection

Yep worth picking up. The boxes in that shape are probably worth more than the tubes.
