Looking for feedback and impressions on the “VT94D”
A friend sent a note earlier today telling me that I needed to go find a quad of these tubes NOW! His setup is running with Tungsol. Any owners here who can chime in on this? Are they good or just awesome?

@Isaacc7
In review of the picture in the link the tube is Motorola but was known to be Tungsol from the codes on the base. I didn’t see any marking to denote VT94- just the faint 6J5G on the glass. What differentiates a VT94 from a regular 6J5G/GT?

VT (Vacuum Tube)94 is just the military WWII era designation of the 6J5GT. I went through a bunch of different 6J5GT tubes and to me the tall bottle metal base Sylvania tubes are excellent (in the above link there is a picture of a Motorola branded such tube). Another 6J5GT winner is a National Union with a top getter flash - there are other versions that don't sound as good. Also the NEVZ 6C2C tubes are excellent and inexpensive.
As always, YMMV since different amps sound different with the same tubes.

I think so - I have several from different years but they all look the same and sound the same. Can't tell from the above picture, but the glass is bulging out on these tubes.

If you can get a quad of these they are indeed awesome! I will dig out where i got mine from and let you know if you wish, he seemed to be able to get hold of them when I was searching.

Yes- let me know if it’s no trouble, that would be great! I saw a few on the eBay that looked very similar but from Sylvania, I believe they were going for $30+ each.

The Sylvania tubes look different- on top is a big heat radiator that looks like a clip and the Tung Sol tubes have two separate pieces.
Usually the conventual wisdom is that older is better, but IMHO the 1950-55 Sylvania tall bottle metal base 6J5GT sound better than the earlier VT-94D tubes.
