I'm struggling to detect the differences. Ok Bluetooth, but who thinks about that?

The S710 is the only series which keeps the tuner...it has stereo output, same screen, same battery, same capacity (up to 8gb)

If you want a 16gb model...

You lose the tuner, gain screen size, battery life looks rated higher (though I am betting it is only side effect of not having a tuner).

The biggest change is the new interface on both players.

Putting the pricing here:

A829 16GB with Bluetooth: $319
A729 16GB without Bluetooth: $299
A828 8GB with Bluetooth (+ Bluetooth headphones): $269
A728 8GB without Bluetooth: $199
S718 8GB with Noise Cancelling: $199

I don't see an FM option for any of the above new players. The S718 is basically the S618 with the same form factor, noise cancelling and FM. I guess the only difference with the other A7x/A8x players are Bluetooth. Differences with the current A81x are, as you said, bigger screen size, and higher battery life. I don't know what you mean by new interface, it looks the same to me, minus the addition of Bluetooth.

$319 seems a bit too pricey for me. I think I'll stick with my 8GB until I need the expansion. But they do look awesome! Arrival date seems to be 3/28.

Man, they are a bit expensive compare to creative. I hope they sound even better or at least the same as the old ones.

Why can't companies other than Apple make pretty mp3 players? My GF, my sister and most of my friends want ipod nano because they look pretty.

i think Sony calculates the output power differently from what i heard...
the Sony A816 my brother has, which also has a rated 5mW per channel can easily drive my 32ohm DR150s...

It could also easily drive my 50ohm Image. The Sony's not as weak as it sounds from the specs.

I like the newer one, it's got the shape of the s600 series with the elegance and beauty of the a810 series. I do have a random question...has anyone tried the smaller mp3 players sony has...if so are they any good?

Does this mean that the current sony players are going to be discontinued? If thats the case then I smell discounts in the future

x2, no matter how much they seem like they're nice, I keep wanting to buy the Zen. I've always liked the Creative sound sig, and I've doubt they've changed it, at least I haven't heard any different.
